Online Na-English-Chinese-French Dictionary

This dictionary documents the lexicon of the Na language (nɑ˩-ʐwɤ˥) as spoken in and around the plain of Yongning, located in Southwestern China, at the border between Yunnan and Sichuan, at a latitude of 27°50' N and a longitude of 100°41' E. This language is known locally as 'Mosuo'.

The dictionary (version 1.0) is also available in PDF format from the HAL archive, which guarantees long-term preservation, and also offers two supplementary files for download: Click here

(i) NaDictionary.xml, a file containing the entire database in XML format following the ISO standard LMF: this is a computer-readable format. For technical documentation on this format, see:

(ii) NaDictionary.txt, a file containing the entire database in SIL's Toolbox format (MDF); this is the source file on which the editing is done. Readers are most welcome to get in touch ( to report errors, provide additions, and suggest improvements. The HTML version of the dictionary will be updated frequently (resulting in versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 etc). The deposit in the HAL archive will be updated less frequently (anticipated procedure: waiting for major improvements to deposit a new version, e.g. 2.0 as a successor to 1.0).
